About Bocce Victoria

Bocce Victoria is the state governing body for Bocce in Victoria. We affiliate clubs, run state competition, and work to grow the sport across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.

We're affiliated with the Bocce Federation of Australia, the Fédération Internationale de Boules, and the Confédération Mondiale des Sports de Boules - recognised by the International Olympic Committee. That connects Victorian players to competition at every level, from a Tuesday night at your local club through to international championships.

SINCE THE 1850’S

Our History

Bocce was first played in Australia right here in Victoria - northern Italian and Swiss Italian miners brought the game to the goldfields around Daylesford and Hepburn Springs in the 1850s. The country's first bocce club opened at the Fogolar Furlan Club in Thornbury in October 1964, and Melbourne went on to host the first world championship ever held in the Southern Hemisphere.
