Active Social Bocce
Come & Try nights run weekly at our Reservoir headquarters as well as at our affiliated clubs. Your first session is free, and we provide everything.
How the game works
A small ball called the jack is thrown down the court. Players then roll their bocce balls, trying to finish closest to it. Closest ball scores.
What surprises most people is how physical it is. A session has you walking the length of the court dozens of times, bending, crouching and controlling a weighted throw. It's low-impact, not low-effort - the reason it suits players from their teens into their eighties.

Common questions
-
Either works, but booking helps. If you book through TidyHQ we know to expect you and someone will be free to show you the basics. If you’d rather just see how you go, turn up - you won’t be turned away.
-
Yes. Your first Come & Try session costs nothing, and there’s no membership or sign-up needed to attend it.
-
No. We provide everything - balls, the jack, measures and scorecards. Plenty of regular players eventually buy their own set, and members get a discount on equipment when they do, but there’s no need to own anything to start.
-
Comfortable clothes and runners. That’s it. You’ll be walking the court and bending to measure, so wear something you can move in.
-
Bocce is one of the more accessible sports going. It’s non-contact, played at your own pace, and can be played seated or standing - players with and without disability regularly compete on the same courts. If you’d like to talk through what you need before coming along, email bocce@boccevictoria.com and we’ll sort it out.
